    Atlanta Gas Light is looking for Engineers interested in joining this country's vital natural gas industry.

    This position is an exciting opportunity for engineers who enjoy the challenges and responsibilities of coordinating the construction of natural gas transmission and distribution facilities.

    The right candidate must be a self-starter and able to make sound decisions. Incumbents in this role administer external resources who construct gas utility infrastructure, while delivering on financial and operating objectives.

    The Associate Engineer drives quality and safety expectations and ensures that those standards are met within a functional or regional area.

    Functional Expertise

    :

    Oversees construction of underground gas utility infrastructure for residential, commercial, and industrial properties.

    Makes decisions in the field and coordinates with internal and/or external service providers and support departments (environmental and real estate) and external agencies to ensure that work is performed as planned, permitted, and scheduled.

    Inspects Construction (safety, compliance, quality, locates and restoration).

    Reviews and approves work orders, progress reports, field changes, invoices, as-built records and bid contracts to ensure compliance and company standards and policies.

    Updates as necessary, Management, Sales, Engineering, and other applicable stakeholders on project progress.
    Monitors project specific budget and/or cost per unit variances and identifies exceptions/variances.

    Business Acumen:

    Analyzes costs and benefits for specific construction projects and evaluates alternatives to ensure cost effectiveness of construction projects.
    Evaluates and recommends field design changes to keep construction projects on schedule and at or below forecasted spend

    Engagement:

    Interprets pipeline contracts to effectively leverage and negotiate the application of contractual items with external service providers.

    Maintains customer satisfaction through timely and thorough communication with individual customers, municipalities, and other governmental agencies at pre-con meetings and throughout the project (such as state Department of Transportation, cities, counties, etc.).

    Influences external contractors who represent the company by shadowing corporate values.

    Driving Results:

    Establishes and monitors work goals and objectives. Measures employee performance and sets safety, quality, and productivity metrics.
    Creates and/or implements improved processes and techniques to enhance operating environments.

    Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities

    Project Engineer I

    Education and Experience:

    Required:

    BS in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
    0-2 years of progressive Engineering experience

    Skills:

    Ability to communicate with all levels in the organization.
    CAD/GIS - basic proficiency
    MS Office - intermediate proficiency

    Certifications/Licenses:

    Engineer in Training (EIT)

    Project Engineer II

    Education and Experience:

    Required:

    BA/BS in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
    2-4 years of progressive Engineering experience

    Skills:

    Technical writing, analysis, problem solving.
    Basic project management
    Intermediate ability to communicate with all levels in the organization.
    Basic ability to influence and persuade in decision making.
    Computer Assisted Design/Geographic Information System - intermediate proficiency.
    MS Office - advanced proficiency

    Certifications/Licenses:

    Preferred:

    Engineer in Training (EIT)
    Project Management Professional (PMP)

    Project Engineer III

    Education and Experience:

    Required:

    BA/BS in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
    4+ years of progressive engineering experience in project engineering or construction management of natural gas or other pipeline facilities
    Demonstrated success in multiple utility-related departments (i.e. Design Engineering, Construction Operations, Cathodic Protection, Standards Development, PMO, System Planning, Field Ops, Integrity Management, etc.)
    2 + years familiarity and experience with Gas Safety regulations or utility pipeline construction practices

    Preferred:

    Master of Business Administration or MS in Engineering

    Skills:

    Technical writing, analysis, problem solving.
    Intermediate to advanced project management
    Process improvement.
    Document management.
    Construction-related technical issue resolution
    Significant ability to communicate with all levels in the organization.
    Intermediate to advanced ability to influence and persuade in decision making.
