- Reviews patients' medical history. In collaboration with supervisors determines appropriate type of anesthetic to be used.
- Prepares and evaluates the safety of anesthetic equipment, supplies and drugs.
- Conducts the induction and maintenance of anesthesia under the direction of appointed supervisor. Administer general (intravenous / inhalation) and regional anesthesia.
- Insert invasive monitoring lines required for an anesthetic and interpret the data.
- Monitors the life support functions of patient during period of anesthesia, or surgery as needed. Assesses, interprets and treats physiologic responses to anesthesia that include oxygenation, circulation and ventilation. Keeps supervisor informed of patient's condition.
- Records pertinent information concerning anesthetic course on patient's clinical chart.
- Provides observation and care in the immediate post operative period until a report of pertinent information has been given to and responsibility for the patient accepted by the RN or MD covering the appropriate recovery area.
- Responsible for supplying documentation of continued registration as a CRNA.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, biochemistry, chemistry, physics, and pharmacology as related to anesthesia. The major clinical component provides experience with a variety of anesthesia techniques and procedures for all types of surgery and obstetrics.
- Fluent in verbal and written language skills.
- Cultural competence and language skills for the patient population is desired.

The incumbent is responsible for supplying documentation of continued registration as a CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist).Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists are licensed, registered, advanced practice nurses who have completed a postgraduate certificate or a master's degree in anesthesia.
To maintain their license to practice anesthesia, CRNAs must be recertified biannually by attending 40 contact hours of continuing education programs.
