    LOCATION: Atlanta, Ga- 1275 Peachtree Street NE

    HOURS: 10am- 3pm (Flexible Days)

    DURATION: May-Aug 20024

    What you will be doing: supporting the external communications team and partnership marketing teams with brainstorming creative public relations ideas, development of key media materials, assisting with media pitching and other related tasks.

    What you will be learning: best public relations practices, enhanced writing and external communications skills, understanding of how public relations fits into an integrated marketing approach

    Responsibilities:

    Project Overview:
    Please provide a brief description of the project that the intern will be working on including its purpose and significance to the organization.

    The purpose of this internship is to introduce the intern into the planning and execution of strategic public relations practices as a key marketing function to enhance brand awareness and build trust with external audiences.

    Project Objectives:

    Outline the specific goals and objectives of the project. What does the intern aim to achieve by completing this project?

    1. Objective 1: Demonstrate an understanding of media relations practices such as pitch writing, media pitching, media list development, media monitoring/reporting and more.
    2. Objective 2: Enhance public relations writing skills and build expertise in strategic, creative storytelling to garner positive media attention for Boys & Girls Clubs of America and its corporate partners.

    Project Tasks:
    List the specific tasks that need to be completed for the intern to achieve the project objectives.

    1. Task 1: Support with Keystone media strategy and public relations efforts. (Note: As Keystone PR needs are currently tentative, this project may be swapped for a comparable project with similar skill development and learning opportunities)
    2. Task 2: Support with back-to-school press release materials and external launch of 2024 Youth Right Now survey data.

    Project Deliverables:
    List the tangible outputs or outcomes that will result from the intern completing the project.

    1. Deliverable 1: Written comprehensive Keystone media strategy and media list.
    2. Deliverable 2: Completed and approved back to school and Youth Right Now press materials and/or written approval of key contributions to support the Youth Right Now launch.
    Qualifications:

    • Interest or passion in nonprofit work / BGCA mission
    • Excellent communication and writing skills
    • Interest in public relations, marketing and/or media relations
    • Willingness to learn and bring new ideas to the table
    • Ability to meet deadlines and manage several projects at a time
    • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
    • Agility and flexibility
    • Attention to detail
    • Professionalism in representing BGCAs brand to external audiences and stakeholders
    • General understanding of the public relations practice and its importance for the organization.
    • Interest/ability to conduct industry-related marketing and proactive media research.
    • Building media lists, reports and briefing materials.
    • Strong writing skills to support media materials (press releases, media alerts, fact sheets, briefing book and more)
    • General understanding of the public relations practice.
    • Strong collaboration skills and willingness to communicate proactively with teammates and managers.
