    Description


    ResponsibilitiesRequired completion of a minimum of thirty-five (35) psychiatric continuing education units yearly and meet quarterly with a mastered level RN for supervision.

    Development, education and maintenance of organizational policies and procedures relevant to nursing care.
    Supervision of all staff nurses employed by or contracted to United Methodist Behavioral Hospital.

    Collaborate with appropriate Administrative leaders, medical staff, management and other clinical leaders in developing, implementing, revising and monitoring patient care improvement activities.

    Oversees scheduling and conducting staff meetings on a monthly basis for the purpose of reviewing the quality of nursing care provided, may be conducted by designee.

    Conducting and documenting regular performance evaluations of all nursing personnel.

    Oversees orienting and maintaining adequate numbers of qualified staff to perform safe and effective patient care, may be conducted by designee.

    Educational in-services that are relevant to clinical nursing practice shall be conducted on a regular basis by the Director of Nursing.

    Establishing and monitoring an ongoing Quality Assurance/Improvement program for policies and procures related to nursing practice.
    Can demonstrate, supervise, and assess competency for waived testing or for phlebotomy.
    Must have good auditory, visual and olfactory ability.

    Requires the ability to sit and stand for long periods of time and intermittently walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch and reach with hands and arms.

    Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls.

    Must be able to maintain effective audio, visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, and reading and writing, and operating office equipment and other treatment equipment.

    Must be able to use a telephone to communicate verbally and a computer to communicate through written means, to review information and enter/retrieve data, to see and read characters on a computer screen, chart or other treatment items.

    Requires the strength and stamina to perform clinical duties.

    QualificationsThe Nursing Department shall be directed by a nurse executive who is a Registered Nurse qualified by education and management experience.

    The nurse executive's education and experience shall be directly related to the facility's stated mission and to the nursing care needs of the patient population.

    The Director of Nursing shall be a current Registered Nurse able to practice nursing in the State of Arkansas.
    The Director of Nursing services shall practice under the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Arkansas.
    Must be physically capable to receive verbal and written directions. Must be physically capable of sitting and standing for several hours at a time.
    Must have good auditory, visual and olfactory ability. Ability to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls.

    Must be able to maintain effective audio, visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, reading and writing, and operating office equipment and other treatment equipment.

    Must be willing and able to work with all patients of Methodist Family Health.
