    Description

    General Manager, Specialty MDF Medium Density Fiberboard (Single Integrated Manufacturing Site)

    Following an unexpected leadership transition, the company is seeking a permanent General Manager to lead its MDF manufacturing plant operating proprietary technology in a specialty market into the next phase of performance, stability and growth. The company currently has an interim General Manager who brings deep technical expertise in the production process, and will remain a resource to ensure continuity of process knowledge and provide technical guidance.

    This role requires a leader who can unify the leadership team, establish stronger operating discipline and accelerate execution while maintaining safety standards, product quality and customer performance and satisfaction.

    Key Responsibilities

    · Provide leadership across Sales, Operations, Maintenance, Finance, IT, Environment & Safety.

    · Partner with the interim GM to ensure continuity of process knowledge and production stability.

    · Drive operational improvement initiatives to optimize operational and cash management efficiency.

    · Build cohesion and accountability across the leadership team.

    · Provide strategic oversight to the Sales function, engage key customers through visits, and support new business development initiatives and opportunities.

    · Establish clear operating cadence and performance management system to drive consistency and results.

    · Develop and execute short- and long-term plans focusing on product yield, throughput, cost structure, working capital and revenue growth.

    · Maintain full operational and financial responsibility for the single integrated site, including budgeting, forecasting and capital allocation with support from the Financial Controller.

    · Strengthen operating discipline and housekeeping standards, to reinforce zero-incident safety culture through visible leadership on the floor.

    · Ensure continued compliance with environmental regulatory requirements.

    · Coach and further develop functional leaders, strengthen bench depth and succession planning for technical knowledge transfer.

    · Primary interface with the Board of Directors.

    Candidate's Background

    ·Familiarity with fiber preparation, resin systems, moisture control, pressing, finishing, and reliability engineering.

    · Experience with site P&L ownership, including cost control and working capital management.

    · Prior experience leading operational improvement programs in manufacturing environment preferred.

    · Decisive, resilient and energetic leader.

    · Working knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics and core process engineering principles as applied in industrial manufacturing is a plus.

    · Experience with batch pressing or steam injection is highly valued but not required.

    · Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline preferred.

    Compensation

    Salary includes relocation support, and performance-based incentives commensurate with experience.
