    *Job Summary

    The E & I Technician performs electrical and instrumentation maintenance activities and projects. Skilled in the fabrication, installation, inspection, testing, adjustment and repair of electronic, electro-mechanical, and pneumatic control circuits and systems.

    Systems could include, but not limited to:
    AC/DC motor controls, process loop instruments, PLCs, MCCs and switch gear.

    These systems are used to record, indicate, and control the operation of various machines, including process measurement and control instrumentation.

    *Essential Responsibilities

    • Complete preventive and predictive maintenance and calibrations on various electrical control system components and equipment, including weight, level, flow, temperature, pressure and other control instruments.
    • Utilize data collectors, testing and diagnostic tools, and computerized maintenance management systems for calibrations. Make adjustments to calibration to ensure functioning within specified standards on a regular basis.
    • Disassemble and repair or replace malfunctioning instruments, electronics and test equipment such as process control valves, controllers, transmitters, recorders, pneumatics, electrical wiring / circuitry, multi‐meters, environmental enclosures, weather meters and other necessary equipment.
    • Plans details of job assigned, uses sketches, electrical schematics, loop diagrams and complex drawings.
    • Install and troubleshoot: Controls, Start Bucket, Motors, Lighting, Flow Meters, Electrical Valves, Start/Stop Stations and Switch Gears.
    • Fabricates, tests, assesses, and makes adjustments on precision equipment and instruments according to blueprints and other specifications, using hand tools, metalworking machines, and precision measuring and testing instruments.
    • Installs, repairs, and maintains communication cables and power distribution cables. Fabricates parts that are not commercially available, using machine and hand tools.
    • Uses continuous improvement tools to investigate, including breakdown elimination, to eliminate losses and drive issues to root cause; documents, communicates, and implements corrective and preventative actions.
    • Coaches other team members on electrical, instrumentation, and controls skills, machine functionality, defect identification and resolution, and equipment repair.
    • Keeps up-to-date logs of E&I activities, shutdowns, abnormal operations, troubleshooting, and problem areas; notifies the Maintenance Supervisor of problems. Contributes to implementation of changes to installations and processes (MOC).
    • Participate in the planning and execution of minor and major shutdowns.
    • Perform other advanced tasks such as Thermography and Interlock Testing.
    • Assist Maintenance Supervisor in extracting work order data for Key Performance Indicators reported to Plant Manager.
    • Conformance with the Quality and Environmental, Health, Safety and Security policies and awareness of ISO 9001 and RC14001 management system requirements applicable to this position.
    • Support company safety initiatives and comply with health and safety policies and legal regulations
    • Complete other general maintenance departmental objectives as required.
    *Required Qualifications*· Electrical/Mechanical technical degree is strongly preferred, as is Apprentice or Journeyman Electrician status.

    • A minimum 6 years' experience as an E&I Technician or equivalent; including experience with installing, calibrating, troubleshooting and maintaining process instrumentation for measuring and controlling flow, pressure, temperature and level.
    • Working knowledge of NEC (National Electrical Code) book.
    • Extensive experience with conduit, both ridged and EMT threaded pipefittings, pipe threading machine, installing conduit, pulling wire through various size conduits.
    • Extensive experience with electrical wire types, sizes and its different uses.
    • Extensive PLC experience, power up and troubleshoot 4-20ma loop, digital in-put, digital out-put loops.
    • Extensive experience with industrial Motor Control Center, 3 phase 480 volts.
    • Experience with computerized maintenance systems, specifically SAP.
    • Experience in operation and maintenance of plant utilities (i.e. steam, compressed air, cooling towers, chillers, HVAC, etc.) a plus.
    • Must be able to work a minimum of 8 hours including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, and schedule changes as the business requires. Must be able to work overtime as required. Must respond to maintenance call ins.
    • Computer literate in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel preferred.
    • Work Experience at a chemical plant preferred.
    • Heavy equipment operation experience a plus.
    *Physical Requirements

    • Ability to manually lift and move up to 50 lbs. throughout shift. Ability to transport heavy tools and equipment to perform assigned jobs.
    • Ability to work within an environment that requires bending, stooping, climbing, pushing/pulling, reaching (at or above shoulder height), twisting at the waist.
    • Ability to work in an environment with the following conditions; chemical and mechanical operations, confined spaces, dust and fumes, working within safe but close proximity to forklift and machine operations, exposure to heat and humidity, hearing or talking around loud machinery, and wearing personal protective equipment
    • Ability to work in high places.
    • Must be able to recognize audio and visual equipment alarm
