    Huntington Ingalls Industries is seeking a talented and experienced Designer 4 to join our team.

    The Designer 4 will be responsible for designing and developing complex engineering drawings, models, and layouts for shipbuilding and ship repair projects.

    The Designer 4 will work closely with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that designs meet project requirements and specifications.

    What You Will Do

    Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.
    Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, CAD, CAM or CATIA.
    Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal.

    Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications.

    Exclude classifications in which incumbents predominantly perform drafting assignments.
    Stay up-to-date with the latest design trends, tools, and technologies.

    What You Must Have


    Associates Degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 6 years related experience or High School Diploma or equivalent and 8 years related experience.

    Candidate must be skilled in utilizing CAD software, including AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Inventor
    Candidate must have thorough understanding of design principles and standards
    Candidate must have proven track record of working efficiently in a high-pressure environment with strict timelines
    Candidate must have exceptional communication and teamwork abilities
    Candidate must be proficient in working independently or as part of a group
    Candidate must be experienced in Power and Lighting Electrical Design
    Candidate must have familiarity with Shipcheck processes
    Candidate must have an active Secret Clearance
    Candidate must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time
    Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen

    Bonus Points For Having

    Skilled in implementing Ingalls Shipyard Standards while working with complex naval electrical systems
    Experience in managing and guiding teams
    Experience performing Ship Checks
    Openness to travel as required
    Experience in Power & Lighting Electrical Design

    Physical Requirements

    Office, industrial or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances during site surveys. Lifting and moving of materials not to exceed the guidelines set for one man lift. Must be able to perform site surveys and carry a lap top computer.
