    Summary


    The purpose of this class within the organization is to perform installation of equipment including lighting systems, video cameras, traffic radar unit, electronic sirens, and mobile data terminals.

    Essential Functions


    • Perform vehicle Up-fitting services including public safety and public works vehicles;
    • Installation and removal of all equipment;
    • Install and troubleshoot in-car camera systems, mobile data terminals, and mobile radio systems;
    • Document all services rendered and parts used on Service Ticket for all installations or removals done;
    • Perform related duties as required.
    Qualifications

    Completion of a high school diploma or the equivalent with an additional two years of experience in the repair and maintenance of mechanical and/or electrical equipment; or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following:

    Physical Exam Required

    Valid Current Driver's License


    • Critical Infrastructure: This position has been determined to have close contact with, or control of Critical Infrastructure components. This position is subject to extensive background checks and random drug screening.
    • No Class B Misdemeanor convictions within last 10 years
    • No Class A Misdemeanor, Felony Convictions or Family Violence ConvictionKnowledge and Abilities

    Knowledge of:

    • Communicate well with others
    • Vehicle repairs, retrofitting and upgrading;
    • Complete all required paperwork (service orders, work logs, timecards, etc. ) ;
    • Installation of Emergency Lighting a PLUS;
    • General knowledge of two-way radio theory and operation is a PLUS;
    • Inventory and sale of surplus equipment.

    Ability to:

    • Maintain an orderly and clean working environment, keeping the shop organized;
    • Obtain Law Enforcement Vehicle Technician Level Certification;
    • Work on and see small colored objects;
    • Educate people on the use of equipment;
    • Answer field service calls as needed;
    • Attend to customer needs whenever required.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds;
    • Frequently bend and kneel during the shift;
    • Frequently pull and push objects;
    • Frequently flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially at the knees;
    • Frequently rotate upper trunk to the left or right while sitting or standing;
    • Place arms above, at, or below shoulder height.
