    I) Job Purpose


    Junior Developers will be active members of the development team, quickly learning the business and jumping in to contribute and deliver results.

    They will pair with leads, architects and other team members to gain exposure and understanding to all layers of the stack, programming paradigms, and best practices.

    We are looking for smart, articulate entry level developers who are excited about learning the DevOps model. This role will require hard work, creativity and tenacity in a fast-paced continual learning environment.


    II) Essential Functions

    A) Pair with other developers and learn the software development process and life cycle of a feature request

    B) Work with development team to meet acceptance criteria, gathering, and documenting the requirements.

    C) Focus on depth of knowledge and expertise in a certain language, tool set and area of the stack

    D) Raise questions and clarify any ambiguity developer has with an idea or process

    E) Work on small to mid-sized development projects with oversight by a technical lead.

    F) Hunt and fix bugs

    G) Provide application support as needed

    H) Continue to learn and hone skills as software engineer

    I) Evaluate, assess, and recommend software solutions

    J) Design and model solutions that fit the problem domain

    K) Should be able to identify components of the application and infrastructure in their domain.

    L) Must learn the proper lexicon and terminology for the domains they work in.

    M) Junior developer will work with the team to design and implement applications as well as the build, release, deployment, and configuration activities.

    N) Ability to work in fast-paced multi-disciplinary environments.

    O) Document code thoroughly as well as develop clear, concise technical and user documentation, i.e. system/data workflows, descriptions of processes, etc.

    P) Must be a reliable and responsible team member, accountable for assigned work

    Q) Join daily scrum meetings, share progress and impediments

    III) Knowledge of Laws, Regulations, Policies/Procedures, Skills, and Abilities

    A) Experience with .net framework programming language C#, Basic Java, C, C++ , or similar programming languages.

    B) Experience with version control systems

    C) SQL Skills

    D) Relational database understanding

    E) Knowledge of cloud technologies such as Azure, CloudStack, VMware, AWS etc. a plus

    F) Working knowledge of IIS, SSIS, and Reporting Services.

    G) Operational Understanding DevOps.

    H) Exposure to data processing, hardware platforms, enterprise software applications, and outsourced systems.

    I) Good understanding of computer systems characteristics, features, and integration capabilities.

    J) Knowledge of software development life cycle methods

    K) Understanding of project management principles, traditional and agile.

    L) Understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.

    M) Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations (HIPAA, etc.)

    N) Organization and time management

    O) Performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature

    P) Work independently and as a team, organize work efficiently, and prioritize workload demands.

    Q) Effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing

    R) Meet schedules and deadlines of the work

    S) Maintain the confidentiality of information and professional boundaries


    IV) Internal & External Customer Service

    A) This position requires internal and external contacts. The employee will accomplish this with advanced written and verbal skills.

    B) Provide the highest level of customer service to both internal and external clients.

    Minimum Requirements


    Required Education

    Bachelor's Degree in an information technology field


    Defined Education

    Computer Science/Information Systems/MIS or related degree


    Substitutions

    Relevant development work experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.


    Required Years' Experience

    0 years, IT internship experience a plus


    License/Certifications

    Valid Texas Driver's License with an acceptable driving record


    Supervisory Experience

    None


    Testing Requirements

    Pre-employment tests including drug and TB Screening, Physical Exam including balance and lift test.

    25 Pounds


    All staff are required to participate in agency Emergency Preparedness and Environmental Safety programs and may be assigned by their departments as a key/essential staff level function during critical events or for the purpose of sustaining business continuity.


    This position may require temporary or permanent re-assignment to any MHMR Tarrant facility as determined by program needs and /or the Division/Director.

    Assigned work hours may change as the needs of the agency change.

    The functional Title of this position may change as the needs of the agency change.

    All work will be complete within the scheduled work hours.

    All non-exempt (hourly) employee are expected to clock In and out for each work shift, no work done should be done off the clock.

    Prior approval from supervisor is required for all Paid Time Off (PTO) and Overtime.

    MHMR reserves the tight to change, and to or eliminate a position as it deems appropriate.

    Employment is at will, as well as agency needs may change.

    Agency dress code is to be followed at all times.

    Physical on-site presence, including regular attendance and punctuality is an essential function of this position.

    Any change or adjustments to your assigned work schedule or shift hours must be approved by your supervisor in advance.
