    Description
    Position Title: MRI Tech

    Reports To: Site Manager

    Summary: Operates a magnetic resonance scanner obtain images used by physicians in the diagnosis and treatments of pathologies. Selects appropriate imaging techniques and operates console and peripheral hardware; enters and monitors patient data, transfers images from disk to magnetic media to produce the transparency, and develops film in automatic processor.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Reviews and evaluates developed films or computer generated information to determine if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes.
    • Explains procedures and observes patients to ensure safety and comfort during scan.
    • Keys commands and data into computer to document and specify scan sequences.
    • Operates or oversees operation magnetic imaging equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes.
    • Monitors patients and all equipment entering the MRI suite for foreign devices on or around patient, thereby preventing those items from entering MRI suite and preventing damage to the MRI Scanner.
    • Positions and immobilizes patient on examining table.
    • Records, processes and maintains patient data and treatment records, and prepares reports
    • Takes thorough and accurate patient medical histories.
    • Sets up examination rooms, ensuring that all necessary equipment is ready.
    • Monitors patients conditions and reactions, reporting abnormal signs to physician.
    • Coordinates work with clerical personnel or other technologists.
    • Provides assistance in dressing or changing seriously ill, injured, or disabled patients.
    • Demonstrates new equipment, procedures, and techniques to staff, and provides technical assistance.
    • Administers and injects contrast when necessary, interacts with physician's offices regarding orders; work closely with Radiologists; performs quality control procedures on equipment.
    • Acts as a team member by performing functions such as laundry, inventory, and other tasks, performs other duties as assigned.
    Minimum Job Requirements/Qualifications

    Educations and Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an MRI Technologist
    • Graduate of an Accredited Magnetic Resonance Imaging Program
    • MRI Registered by ARRT or ARMRIT preferred
    • Knowledge of MRI procedures and standards
    • Skill in operation of MRI equipment
    • Customer service background and focus
    • Graduate of an Accredited Radiologic Technology Program preferred
