- Quarterly check-ins and ongoing coaching with team members
- Reports directly to the Clinical Operations Director
- First line in handling interpersonal conflicts (determines when it needs to be escalated to clinic ops director)
- Provide feedback to the leadership team for performance reviews
- Oversees the flow of the hospital in treatment and surgery
- Works with the leadership team regarding scheduling and staff requirements
- Communication between departments
- Works closely with assistant trainer to ensure protocols and policies are aligned
- Works with inventory and operations manager regarding equipment needs
- Oversees all assistants in the hospital including radiology, surgery, and consult teams (average assistant team consists of 8-10 people)
- Veterinary Assistant certification and/or Veterinary Technician certification.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in an animal healthcare environment.
- Strong people skills, including leadership and communication.
- Must be able to physically work the duties of a veterinary assistant or veterinary technician at any given time.
- Must be able to lift and restrain pets of at least 50 pounds, and work on feet most of the day.
