- The Assistant Professor of Practice is responsible for providing the instruction of medical microbiology in both theory and in the laboratory.
- Develop and maintain expertise in the biological/microbiological sciences discipline and integrate this learning into the curriculum and classroom.
- Participate on an ongoing basis in the assessment and analysis of student learning.
- The successful candidate must possess a minimum of a master's degree in biology or related discipline or a master's degree in a related discipline with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology or related degree with a specialization in medical microbiology.
- Candidates must possess a keen interest and enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring students as well as the ability to work effectively with students of all levels and abilities.
- Candidates should have a demonstrable understanding of how this discipline and this position support the education of undergraduate nursing students.
- Also important is the ability to collaborate with colleagues both in the nursing and science departments and throughout the University community.
- Desire to mentor undergraduate students in their course work and career goals.
- Ability to engage in critical thinking and exercise independent judgment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage confidential information.
- Ability to collaborate with other faculty, staff, and maintain collegial relations.
- Initiative-taker, ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form.
- Computer skills and proficiency with a variety of computer applications including word-processing, on-line teaching and reporting platforms.
