    Water Safety Instructor - Rock River Rapids (Temporary during Open Season)

    The Water Safety Instructor will instruct students in assigned levels of the American Red Cross Learn to Swim program. Starts at $13.50/hour. Apply through this employment website or visit
    A Water Safety Instructor:
    • Is responsible for administering testing procedures according to ARC Guidelines.
    • Observe and enforce pool rules.
    • Reports to work prior to the beginning of lessons to ensure time for preparation and remain until decks are clean, neat, and orderly.
    • Is responsible for administering first aid to students and participating in emergency action plans as needed.
    • Is responsible for completing the required American Red Cross course record sheets and all other reports and records required.
    • Is responsible for providing information, and practicing public relations with concerned parents.
    • Wears appropriate attire at all times while teaching.
    • Maintains skills at required levels by swimming and practicing regularly.
    • Attends quarterly staff meetings/in-service training.
    Essential Job Requirements: EXPERIENCE: Previous swim lesson experience desirable. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Functions may be performed in an environment that may cause exposure to sun and substances such as chlorine. Need to have the ability to see and hear, sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk about. Must possess an audible voice for communication and the ability to lift light equipment. Must have the ability to demonstrate in the water all the skills to be taught. Qualifications:
    • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively teach and ability to maintain the safety of students at all times.
    • Should maintain certifications in CPR/PR, and First Aid. ARC Water safety instruction and lifeguarding preferred.
    • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
