    Primary scheduled hours: 80 hours per pay period day shift

    Job Summary


    Magnetic Resonance Imaging MRI Technologist will be responsible for operating MRI equipment and creating scans as per the physicians' orders, screening patients and explaining procedures to them, inspecting and troubleshooting equipment.

    Will collaborate with other healthcare professionals to make sure our patients received the highest quality of care.

    • Newport Hospital and Health Services consists of: 24 bed Rural Community Hospital - Trauma Level IV
    • 15 providers Rural Health Clinic
    • 72 bed, high level care, Advanced Assisted Living Facility
    • 42 apartment; low-moderate care level Assisted Living Facility
    Education Background and Experience


    Minimum Education:
    Graduation from an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology.


    Required Licensure / Certifications:

    • State licensure that permits them to perform diagnostic MRI exams and documented training on the provision of diagnostic MR exams.
    • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ARRT in MR technology.

    Required Experience:

    • One (1) year of radiologic/imaging experience.
    • IV credentialed.
    • Knowledge and understanding of general anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
    • Possesses a high level of knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
    • Proficiency with most major MRI equipment manufacturer's hardware and software (GE, Siemens, Toshiba).

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor of Science degree is preferred, but not required.
    • Prefer specific experience and training in MRI.

    • Demonstrates the ability to communicate with patients, guests and staff in a courteous, respectful and helpful manner.
    Essential Job Functions


    • Performs MRI studies that meet or exceed the standards set by the interpreting radiologist(s).
    • Performs complex tasks associated with the operation of high field strength magnets and related equipment to produce special radiographic images of specific body parts.
    • Follows MRI safety guidelines at all times and ensures all staff and patients in MRI department are following safety guidelines.
    • Follows established protocols for individual MRI examinations.
    • Prepares equipment and room for exams.
    • Ensures proper coil is available in exam room for appropriate study.
    • Sterile trays and room prep for invasive procedures.
    • Stocks room with supplies and linens.
    • Screens patients for MRI safety prior to procedure performance.
    • Interviews and assesses patient for MRI exam.
    • Obtains procedure consent.
    • Reviews patient preparation checklist prior to procedure.


    Successful candidates typically begin between the beginning and midpoint of the compensation range ($ $45.08/hour) dependent on qualifications/experience and receive compensation increment increases annually.
