    Job DescriptionWhat you'll DoViasat's P&S division is looking for an Integration Engineer to join the team responsible for the design, development and delivery of our Airline programmes.

    This will include completing the delivery of currently scoped developments as well as future functionality and enhancements to the existing Viasat solutions.

    This is a wide-ranging technical role that will require the successful candidate to play an analyst and integration role in activities including design and development, system integration, acceptance testing, service introduction, and third level support.

    The successful applicant must be self-motivated and be capable of completing complex tasks with minimum supervision and have the confidence and ability to promote improvements and introduce new technologies.

    The role will require co-ordination with a wide range of other project teams both within and external to Viasat.

    The successful candidate will be required to represent Viasat as the technical expert in meetings with customers and must be capable of dealing confidently with experts in similar and different disciplines.

    Viasat is currently going through significant growth and this role will evolve to reflect the changing business needs. The role may require the ability to travel.

    The day-to-dayDesign and deliver solutions to airlines in time, on budget and to requirementsParticipate and contribute to design reviews, including review of detailed functional specificationsWorking in the lab setting up new builds and environmentsCreate and test system/software configuration filesConfiguring firewalls and other network devicesDevelop test procedures in support of test campaigns and performance evaluation exercisesCreate and maintain technical documentation to ensure efficient planning and executionManage and maintain all required design and engineering documentsParticipate in third level support for resolving production issuesWork with solution vendors and internal stakeholders to define and design new services and features to improve performance or meet new service requirementsReview existing software and infrastructure to identify areas for improvement, added scalability, quality, performance, security maintainability and architectural integrityQualificationsWhat you'll NeedUniversity degree level or equivalent in Computing Science, Telecommunications or related technical disciplineExcellent capacity at debugging complex systems, developing and implementing quick fixes as well as leading and delivering long term permanent solutions to problemsExtensive experience on Linux administration.

    RHCSA certification or equivalent knowledge requiredAbility to quickly develop proof of concepts / prototypes from scratchExcellent knowledge of TCP/IP networkingExcellent knowledge of iptables / iproute / tc stackProven knowledge of SQL (PostgreSQL)Proficiency with SELinux and good systems security understandingBasic knowledge of gitExperience in customer facing roleProven experience in documenting and describing complex systems.
