    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Extrusion Operator is primarily responsible to verify that the proper pin and die are used for the set up as well as properly complete the router with the correct set-up and material information. Once the job is set up and running they are responsible to keep the machine running with in the applicable tolerance and supply Quality Control with samples for verification. Upon Quality Control approval, product is bagged and staged. Once job is complete, operator is responsible for tearing down and cleaning the machine for the next start up.

    DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    • Verify equipment/tools/materials used per work order/process guide.
    • Understand and follow the instructions per applicable router for your job.
    • Ensure the quality of the product meets the specifications listed on the router.
    • Identify and install pin and dies correctly.
    • Accurately record data on the router, QAD/Factivity (or similar ERP or labor/material reporting software), daily production tickets, time clocks and any other forms used in your area.
    • Clean out machine properly, reinstall screw, water lines, feed roller, chain guard and remove pin/die and return to proper location.
    • Understand and follow the SOP's pertaining to your area.
    • Understand and follow the Work Instructions pertaining to your area.
    • Observe and promote Company standards and policies on safety, quality and productivity.
    • Understand Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in medical device and clean room environment
    • Support and observe 5S and other lean manufacturing methodologies.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Successful completion of four-years of high school, or equivalent, plus some additional specialized training.
    • Over three months up to and including 1 year of experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
    • Mechanical, machine operating or extrusion experience (preferred).
    • Excellent (written and verbal) communication and effective human interaction skills.
    • Flexible to change, and possess a high degree level of integrity and "can do attitude".
    • Willing to work in a team environment and contribute to group goals
    • Able to convert units of measurement, add, subtract multiplication and division.
    • Ability to receive and provide instructions in a positive manner.
    • This physical demand level for this job is considered medium with frequent lifting 10-25 pounds. Exposure to lifting more than 50 pounds is rare (if ever).
