    Summary



    You can make a difference in the world with a career at the Department of State We are hiring many experienced Human Resources (HR) Specialist across the Department in various regional and functional Bureaus. If eligible, applicants will be referred to similar vacancies across the Department for an extended time period.



    Duties

    • Advises management on recruitment strategies to best attract, hire and retain a skilled, diverse and motivated workforce including available flexible hiring authorities, and sources and special programs.
    • Reviews, prepares, and/or coordinates position classification requests (establishment of new positions, reclassification of vacant positions, recertification of position descriptions, desk audits, accretion of duties) from management officials.
    • Processes HR actions in accordance with the Guide to Processing Personnel Actions in an electronic HR system.
    • Maintains liaison with the Department's central HR offices on HR functions within the scope of the work duties by providing statistics, back ground information, justifications, and other related data as required.
    • At the GS-11 level, the incumbent performs essentially the same duties as outlined above; however, the scope and complexity of assignments are of less responsibility and independence and receives closer than normal supervision.
