- Document Preparation: Draft, proofread, and edit legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, contracts, and agreements.
- Legal Research: Conduct legal research using online databases, libraries, and other resources to support case preparation and analysis.
- Client Communication: Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other parties to schedule meetings, gather information, and provide updates on case status.
- Case Management: Organize and maintain case files, including indexing documents, tracking deadlines, and managing case calendars.
- Administrative Support: Assist lawyers with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing correspondence, and filing court documents.
- Court Filings: Prepare and file legal documents with state and federal courts and administrative agencies, ensuring compliance with deadlines and procedural requirements.
- Billing and Timekeeping: Assist with billing tasks, including tracking billable hours, preparing invoices, and maintaining billing records.
- Legal Compliance: Stay updated on legal regulations and procedures relevant to assigned practice areas to ensure compliance in document preparation and filing.
- Education: Associate's degree or bachelor's degree in paralegal studies, legal studies, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience as a legal assistant, paralegal, or in a legal support role is desirable.
- Legal Knowledge: Familiarity with legal terminology, procedures, and document preparation is necessary.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal software such as document management systems and legal research databases.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and colleagues.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
- Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation, data entry, and record-keeping.
- Confidentiality: Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and integrity.
- Knowledge of electronic filing procedures in federal courts will be beneficial

Job Summary: As a legal assistant, you will provide administrative and clerical support to lawyers and legal professionals in a law firm of approximately 6-10 lawyers. Your role will involve managing lawyer case dockets and calendars, organizing and maintaining legal documents, assisting with legal research, communicating with clients, and managing office tasks in a busy downtown Oklahoma City law office. The job is full-time, in office with some flexibility for occasional remote work
