    Description

    Role Overview

    The SAP SCM Lead Consultant is responsible for evaluating, designing, and optimising end-to-end military supply chain processes using SAP Defence & Security (D&S). The role supports operational readiness and mission success by ensuring secure, resilient, and compliant procurement, warehousing, maintenance, and distribution of military equipment and resources. This role operates in a high-stakes, regulated environment and requires deep understanding of military logistics, defence supply chains, and SAP SCM solutions aligned with defence standards.

    Contract Details

    • Duration: Initial 12-month contract with extensions (programme duration up to 3 years)
    • Work Model: On-site / hybrid (dependent on security requirements)
    • Remote Working: Possible, subject to programme security constraints
    • Travel: Willingness to travel within Europe approximately once per month
    • Location: EU-based projects

    Eligibility: EU or UK passport holders; Willingness to undergo security clearance process

    • Security Clearance: SC or DV clearance (or eligibility to obtain), depending on programme requirements

    Desirable Experience

    • Experience with SAP Defence & Security (DFPS/ D&S)
    • Knowledge of defence standards (e.g. NATO, MoD frameworks etc.)
    • Previous work on long-term public sector or defence programme

    Key Responsibilities

    • Supply Chain Strategy & Optimisation
      • Assess and optimise military supply chain processes covering procurement, inventory, warehousing, maintenance, and distribution.
      • Ensure operational readiness through efficient logistics, asset availability, and sustainment planning.
      • Identify and mitigate risks including counterfeit parts, supply disruption, and geopolitical threats.
    • SAP D&S / SCM Solution Leadership
      • Lead the design and implementation of SAP Defence & Security SCM solutions.
      • Configure and integrate SAP modules including: SAP MM (Materials Management); SAP PM / EAM (Maintenance & Asset Management); SAP WM / EWM (Warehousing); SAP SD (Logistics & Distribution); Defence-specific SAP D&S components.
      • Align SCM solutions with SAP S/4HANA Defence & Security architectures.
    • Technology & Innovation
      • Integrate modern SCM technologies and digital tools to improve transparency, traceability, and resilience.
      • Leverage data-driven insights for demand forecasting, inventory optimisation, and readiness reporting.
      • Support interoperability with external defence systems and secure platforms.
    • Vendor & Stakeholder Management
      • Manage and govern defence supplier and vendor relationships.
      • Ensure compliance with defence procurement regulations, contracts, and security policies.
      • Act as a key liaison between military stakeholders, system integrators, and technology partners.
    • Risk, Security & Compliance
      • Ensure compliance with defence regulations, military standards, and security classifications.
      • Support secure system design, data protection, and access control.
      • Align with NATO / MoD logistics and supply chain standards where applicable.
    • Training & Knowledge Transfer
      • Provide training and guidance to military and civilian personnel.
      • Develop operational documentation and knowledge transfer materials.
      • Support change management and user adoption in defence environments.

    Required Skills & Experience

    Essential

    • 8+ years of SAP SCM experience, including leadership roles.
    • Hands-on experience with SAP Defence & Security (D&S).
    • Strong understanding of military logistics and supply chain operations.
    • Experience in high-security or regulated environments.
    • Proven ability to lead complex SAP SCM programmes end-to-end.

    Desirable

    • Experience with SAP S/4HANA Defence & Security.
    • Knowledge of NATO, MoD, or defence logistics standards.
    • Background in military MRO, fleet management, or asset sustainment.
    • Security clearance (SC/DV) or eligibility to obtain clearance.
