The Toxics Inventory and Special Projects Section is looking for a highly motivated, organized, and technically oriented individual to support the development, maintenance and improvement of California Air Resources Board's (CARB's) emission inventories for toxic air pollutants.

With the mandates of Assembly Bill (AB 617 and AB 197), CARB is responsible for providing community groups, the public, regulators, scientists, and others access to complete, user-friendly, and high-quality toxics emissions data.

These data are foundational to the work performed at CARB by identifying what is being emitted into the air, by who, and where; it guides and provides the scientific basis for emission control programs; and it helps California track progress in emission reduction efforts.

The selected candidate will be part of a technical, collaborative team to develop, maintain and improve CARB's emission inventory for toxic air pollutants in support of community health goals; coordinate within CARB and with air districts to develop source-specific emission quantification methods for a wide range of stationary point and area sources; conduct emissions trend analyses; help to develop research proposals to advance the science CARB does around toxics; work to reconcile emissions data reported through programs with different reporting requirements; respond to public requests for air toxic emissions data; and partner with other CARB inventory teams on the development of an integrated emissions inventory system in support of the Board's broad efforts to reduce emissions of air toxics, criteria pollutant, and greenhouse gases.

The incumbent will also support the implementation and periodic development of regulatory amendments to CARB's Air Toxics Hot Spots Program, including collaboration with other branches, divisions and environmental health agencies to support the development of CARB's Air Toxic Control Measures, community level health assessments and aiding in the evaluation of tools for assessing cumulative exposure and risk from toxic air pollutants.

CARB offers various modern interview options including remote phone and video interviews
