Job summary
This is a 1.0 FTE position located at Yorktown High School.
Qualifications: Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure and hold a current, valid qualified or professional certification by the American Sign Language Teachers Association; or hold a current, valid Virginia Quality Assurance Screening Level III Interpreting Certification or higher issued by the Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing; or hold a current, valid Registry of Interpreters for Deaf certification at least one of the following: Certification of Interpretation (CI), Certification of Deaf Interpretation (CDI), Reverse Skills Certification (RSC), or Comprehensive Skills Certification (CSC); Earned a minimum of three semester hours of methods of teaching foreign languages at the elementary and secondary levels from a regionally accredited college or university. Experience: Experience teaching high school students and experience teaching American Sign Language to students are required.,Responsibilities:
- Ability to work effectively as a team member with colleagues.
- Flexible, dependable and highly organized.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to teach ASL as a foreign language.
