Day Shift JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Buyer is responsible for the procurement of supplies, equipment, and services used by the assigned department(s). Being the first level support for all calls coming into the Pharmacy related to purchasing, they research and respond to all calls. In addition to purchasing responsibilities, the Senior Pharmacy Buyer helps provide pharmacist support services to include but not limited to all activities of Pharmacy Technician III. Workscollaboratively with leaders to assure correct and sufficient medication and supplies are available at all times. Works with vendors to identify best pricing and contract compliance.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines.
Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission and vision of the organization.
Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures.
Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self education, attends ongoing educational programs).
Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs. For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS
General environment: Works in a well-lighted, air-conditioned area, with moderate noise levels.
May be required to change from one task to another of different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
2 year / Associate Degree in Pharmacy Technology or related field (Required); In lieu of an Associates Degree; a Minimum of 4 yearsadditional relevant experience is acceptable.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
1 - 2 years Experience or Training in Purchasing. (Required)
2 - 3 years Experience as a Pharmacy Technician III (Required)
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSURES
Required Certifications/Licensures: Technician Registration with the Georgia State Board of Pharmacy, National Certification through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT)Pharmacy Technician job family roles employed before August 1, 2011 may remain employed as a Pharmacy Tech/Buyer without meeting the certification requirement.
