    Description
    Talascend seeks a Senior Substation Engineer for our EPC client, a nationwide technical services company. This is a direct position, 100% on-site. The ideal candidate resides in Baton Rouge, LA, Westlake OR Houston, TX. Relocation support is available.


    Overview:


    As the leader of a project team, the Senior Substation Engineer performs engineering and design duties as well as organizes all activities required for the development and implementation of high voltage electrical substation projects across a multidisciplinary team of drafters, designers, and various levels of engineers.

    The Senior Substation Engineer drives project schedules and budgets for multiple projects at a time and functions as a Company contact for clients and vendors.


    Responsibilities:


    Manage the design, construction, and maintenance of high voltage substations and switchyardsOversee installation, repair, and replacement of substation equipment like power transformers, circuit breakers, switches, etc.

    Supervise engineers and technicians working on substation projectsReview substation designs, drawings, and documents for compliance with regulations and standardsHelp troubleshoot issues with substation equipment and coordinate emergency repairsProvide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineersRequirements:

    Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field10+ years of experience working on high voltage (>138kV) electrical substation components and their functions.

    Strong Knowledge and understanding of engineering standards including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSIStrong knowledge and understanding of three phase power systems, per-unit mathematics, and symmetrical componentsIn-depth knowledge of substation equipment, design documents, and safety standardsProfessional Engineering (PE) license or the ability to obtain oneStrong leadership, communication, and project management skillsMust be eligible to work for any employer in the USA without sponsorship.
