    D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a General Superintendent. The right candidate will supervise Superintendents and all field personnel regarding construction field-related activities while meeting financial, quality, safety and customer satisfaction goals.Implement all company policies and procedures throughout the entire construction process.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
    • Plan and direct construction activities of the Superintendents and other construction staff
    • Total involvement with training, communication and development of Superintendents and field personnel
    • Aid Project Manager with the set-up of temporary project facilities and utilities
    • Oversee field operations, production times and ensure quality control so the homes built meet company standards and are ready for homeowner orientation/occupancy
    • Complete each home site on schedule from planning through occupancy, ensuring all contract obligations are satisfied
    • Ensure that all homes in construction area meet all safety standards in accordance with OSHA and state regulations
    • Authorize payment of subcontractors when all standards are met and upon thorough inspection of work completed and for materials received
    • Oversee community budget, review field purchase orders and provide reporting
    • Walk site to determine construction status and ensure quality control
    • Manage project close-out and final documentation
    • Establish and maintain contact with appropriate city officials and inspectors
    • Handle escalated problems with subcontractors
    • Respond to unsatisfactory survey cards for construction and customer service to direct quality improvement efforts
    • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
    • Ability to travel overnight
    Supervisory Responsibilities
    • Supervises 2 or more employees
    Qualifications

    Education and/or Experience
    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
    • Five to seven years related experience and/or training
    • Must have a vehicle, a valid driver's license
    • High degree of construction knowledge and management skills
    • Ability to read, understand and interpret construction documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedules
    • General knowledge of municipal permitting, regulations and building codes
    • Ability to converse with customers, all levels of management and personnel
    • Superb interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
    • Demonstrated commitment to customer satisfaction
    • Ability to control cost overruns and manage a budget
    • Ability to utilize DRH Construction applications on a smart phone, tablet, or laptop
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
    • Proficiency with MS Office and email
    • Ability to stand and walk for 4 hours straight or up to a full 8-hour day; sit for extended periods; kneel and bend at the waist; climb, balance and stoop, crouch or crawl; walk up and down stairs; walk on unlevel terrain; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision
    • Regular exposure to outside weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, high precarious places and risk of electrical shock
    • The noise level is generally loud
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university a plus
    • Work effectively in a high pressure and high production environment
    • English/Spanish bilingual skills a plus
