    About the Job:

    The Operational Readiness, Activation & Transition (ORAT) department is seeking a Project Coordinator Veteran Fellow to put their strong collaboration and time management skills to the test as we prepare for the multi-phase opening of the New Terminal 1 (NT1). Their logistics and organizational expertise will be key to planning and executing critical operational trials, end-user trainings, and passenger simulations—efforts that will ensure a seamless, safe, and a positive customer experience.

    What You'll Do:

    • Operations Coordination: Assists with organizing and executing logistics for stakeholder engagement activities including facility tours, staff training, and operational trial sessions. Schedules participant registration, tracks attendance, distributes and manages PPE, and collects and analyzes post-session feedback surveys.
    • Administrative Support: Maintains detailed logs of identified facility issues during pre- and post-opening phases. Monitors project progress, coordinates with responsible teams for needed resolutions, reports updates to support a smooth operational transition. Implements administrative processes to help improve efficiency. Contributes to the development of workflows to ensure the smooth execution of activation and opening activities.
    • Volunteer Coordination: Oversees volunteer scheduling. Coordinates volunteers for the Community PAX Simulation event and Post-Opening Customer Support events. Ensures volunteers are trained, equipped, and supported. Gathers and tracks volunteer feedback. Ensures volunteer support space is stocked/maintained and regularly conducts inventory of items.
    • Transition Coordination: Assists in planning and managing the execution of NT1 opening transition tasks, including the setup and operation of a centralized Transition Command Center. Helps with facilitating real-time decision-making, communications, and troubleshooting during the opening phase.

    The Skills You Need:

Be proactive in identifying and addressing challenges as they arise. Utilize strong organizational skills and a close attention to details to ensure successful project implementation.
    3. Situational Awareness: Manage competing priorities with keen awareness of project timelines, team dependencies, and operational demands.
    4. Leveraging Technology: Effectively operates telephonic and computerized systems to communicate, store and transmit information and/or notifications.
    5. Communication: Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, to support collaboration across departments, document project status, and engage stakeholders.
    6. Administrative: Maintain accurate records, coordinate calendars, prepare meeting materials, and confidently use Microsoft Office and other relevant systems to support day-to-day project functions.

    Requirements

    The Experience You Need to Have**:

    • A minimum of three (3) years of active duty or mobilized reserve duty service.
    • Submittal of an honorable discharge (DD214) from active or reserve status within the last year.*

    Licenses, Certificates, and Special Requirements :

    • Successful completion of a fingerprint-based background investigation, training, and testing required for employment and operation and operation of Authority and San Diego County physical security, surveillance, radio and telecommunications equipment.

    *An exception will be made to the one-year requirement listed above for students enrolled in a degree or certification program since honorable discharge; a transcript must be provided with your application.

    *Applications without a copy of form DD214, and if applicable, college transcripts will not be considered.
