    • Position Summary
    • Under general supervision, performs specified duties on an assigned nursing in caring for adolescent through geriatric patients. Ensures all actions taken in carrying out responsibilities support patient centered care.
    • Position Responsibilities
    • Unit Specific Position Responsibilities
    • Utilizes handoff communication at shift change.
    • Monitors cardiac rhythms, documents rhythms hourly and heart rate. Runs rhythm strip at the beginning of every shift & analyzes rhythm.
    • Reports changes in the cardiac rhythm immediately to the nurses caring for the patient. Runs strip of rhythm changes for nurses to analyze and document.
    • Updates providers daily as needed regarding patient events in the last 24 hours.
    • Maintains and cleans cardiac monitoring equipment. Informs Biomed when there is equipment malfunction. Discusses equipment malfunctions with nurse manager.
    • Verifies stock of needed supplies for cardiac monitoring, i.e. lead wires and batteries.
    • Inspects each pack for any damage after each patient use.
    • Assists patients, families and visitors with various needs to enhance customer service.
    • Participates in staff development and orientation of new staff.
    • Attends and participates in 50% of department unit meetings.
    • Completes required rhythm strips and annual test.
    • Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
    • Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education):
    • Completion of basic EKG class with grade of at least 80% within 90 days of hire.
    • Mandatory Reporter training within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment.
    • Organizational Requirements:
    • Maintain stroke education per regulatory requirements.
    • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Highschool diploma or GED
    • Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
    • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to understand and communicate oral and written English.
    • Ability to make decisions quickly and appropriately when under stressful conditions.
    • Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
    • Knowledge of computer skills related to cardiac monitoring.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology.
