    Job DescriptionSalary:
    $60,000-$65,000


    The Company:
    Charlotte Compressor, a company engaged in the purchase distribution and servicing of air compressor equipment for industrial customers.


    General responsibilities:


    Using in-place accounting systems and working with the company's outsourced accounting/tax firm, produce accurate, relevant and timely monthly financial reports in format prescribed by the company and its Controller.

    Maintain the accounting system with all data necessary to enable reporting and analysis as needed, recorded in accordance with GAAP.

    Maintain all related records and files.


    Detailed responsibilities:

    • Maintain the QuickBooks Online accounting system and supporting systems.
    • Ensure all relevant transactions are recorded in the system on a timely and
    accurate basis, including those processed by others.

    • Close the accounting books each month on the approved closing cycle that will
    enable the company to anticipate the date reports will be available each month.

    • Maintain various internal records needed for specialized reports, including
    subsidiary records of fixed assets, accounts receivable and payable, prepaid
    expenses and accruals, financial projections in support of the company's budget
    and strategic plan, etc.

    • Oversee and perform, as needed, collection of accounts receivable for work
    completed and billed, with the goal of attaining past due receivables at or less
    than 25% of total amounts due.

    • Support the needs of the company's outside accountants for monthly reporting,
    periodic tax filing, etc.

    • Supervise accounting/clerical duties of other employees assigned.

    Reporting relationships:
    Report to the Controller of the company and, in his absence, to the Chief Operating Officer.


    Requirements:

    • Four to five years accounting experience in a privately owned company,
    preferably in some distribution product for manufacturing customers.

    • Demonstrated ability to complete all accounting tasks necessary to produce
    credible, properly researched, accrual-basis financial statements, including cash
    flow, using standard accounting analysis techniques.

    • Strong spreadsheet skills, using MS Excel, for designing, developing, and using
    spreadsheets for business forecasting and analysis.

    • A bachelor's degree in accounting is required.
    • CPA certificate or comparable experience is strongly preferred.
