    How You'll Make an Impact

    The role of Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) involves assisting in delivering patient care within a correctional facility. This includes using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The LVN also oversees patient education and activities based on their competencies and the Nursing Practice Act (NPA), collaborating closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure top-notch care and adherence to protocols.

    Key Job Responsibilities

    • Contribute to patient assessment and treatment planning following Nursing Practice Act and Correctional Health Services guidelines
    • Administer medications and execute medical plans as directed by Health Care Practitioners using correct methods and procedures
    • Respond to emergencies and uphold safety protocols and precautions
    • Support in implementing nutrition and therapeutic diets and aid in medical procedures as required for patient welfare
    • Record nursing interactions and share information with healthcare colleagues and supervisors
    Qualifications and Prerequisites

    Education

    • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
    Experience

    • Preferably one (1) or more years of clinical experience
    Licenses/Certifications

    • Hold current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in the employing state
    • Possess current CPR certification
