Job Overview
We are seeking an energetic and dedicated Head Swim Coach to lead our competitive summer swimming program and inspire athletes of all ages and skill levels. In this pivotal role, you will develop training plans, foster a positive team environment, and ensure safety standards are upheld at all times. Your leadership will motivate swimmers to reach their full potential while promoting a love for the sport. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a lasting impact on our community's aquatic programs.
Duties
- Design and implement comprehensive training programs tailored to swimmers' skill levels and goals, emphasizing technique, endurance, and safety.
- Lead daily practices, ensuring proper warm-up, drills, and cool-down routines that maximize performance and minimize injury risk.
- Oversee swim meets and competitions, providing strategic guidance and support to athletes before, during, and after events.
- Maintain a safe swimming environment by enforcing safety protocols, supervising lifeguard staff, and conducting regular safety drills.
- Foster a positive team culture through effective behavior management, motivation, and mentorship of swimmers of all ages.
- Collaborate with parents, school officials, and community partners to promote the swim program and encourage participation.
- Stay current with coaching techniques, sports science developments, and certifications related to swimming, martial arts (such as Judo or Karate), or physical education.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in coaching swimming or related sports such as water polo.
- Pass background check.
- Pass NWAL Coaching Test.
- Lifeguard certification or experience in water safety supervision is highly desirable.
- Strong background in teaching physical education or working with children and students in a sports setting.
- Knowledge of behavior management strategies to motivate diverse groups of athletes effectively.
- Familiarity with sports coaching principles, training methodologies, and safety standards in health clubs or gyms.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with athletes, parents, and team staff.
- Ability to lead by example with enthusiasm, professionalism, and a commitment to athlete development.
