    About This Position

    ChristianaCare is searching for a Senior Accountant to join the Financial Accounting and Reporting Team.

    This position is responsible for performing accounting functions and providing operational support as part of the Corporate Accounting team to produce complete and accurate financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).


    Principal duties and responsibilities:


    Facilitates and completes the monthly close process in Workday Financials by performing financial statement analysis and recording general ledger entries.


    Compiles a complete set of month-end and year-end financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Statement of Changes in Net Assets, and the Statement of Cash Flows with accompanying notes), as well as various ad hoc reporting, for individual entities and in consolidation.


    Responsible for procedures and analysis of the System's retirement plans including documentation, reconciliation, financial statement preparation, and interpretation of disclosures.


    Provides support and prepares schedules for annual external audits and filings such as the Form 990, the System's retirement plans, and other filings, as assigned.

    Collaborates with the IT Finance team to build, validate, improve, and troubleshoot reports and module processes in Workday Financials.

    Understands business operations and interprets data to prepare written analysis of the business transactions that drive financial statement results.

    Performs and assists with assigned journal entries, account reconciliations, and schedules.

    Develops and maintains supporting documentation for all aspects of job functions.

    Identifies and proposes process improvement opportunities.


    Education and experience requirements:
    Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting required.

    3-5 years of accounting experience required.

    Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

    Ability to utilize various accounting information systems (Experience with Workday Financials is a plus).

    CPA designation or working towards is preferred, but not required.

    Healthcare financial or related experience preferred.

    Retirement plan financial and audit related experience preferred.

    An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
