    About the role

    The ESS Test Engineer at magniX will be responsible for the development and execution of testing activities associated with the Energy Storage System (ESS) development and verification testing.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Lead and participate in the commissioning and daily operation of battery labs for development and design verification testing. Tests will be conducted on the entire scope from individual components to integrated battery systems on test rigs and vehicles.
    • Work closely with the program management and test integration team to plan out required testing, test requests, required assets and facilities, etc. for ESS testing.
    • Work closely with the test instrumentation team to plan, install, and maintain instrumentation and data acquisition systems required for ESS testing.
    • Work closely with the test operations team to plan, create, and operate the test facilities and equipment required for ESS testing.
    • Develop and maintain test instructions, test plans, test reports, test data sets, and related documentation within a quality management framework.
    • Develop novel approaches to test cell and EPU control, measurement and data acquisition and reduction processing using LabVIEW, HBM Perception, and Python.
    • Design and participate in the commissioning of high-power electrical test equipment.
    • Support test equipment upgrades from purchase through installation, operation, and maintenance to ensure facility availability.
    • Support integration of the ESS into flying test beds and support flight test activities.
    • Work in rotating shifts and travel to customer test locations when required to meet the team's goals.
    • Support other magniX testing outside of ESS as required.

    Qualifications

    • BS or higher in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field)
    • 5+ years' experience or equivalent specialization in graduate education working with battery systems.
    • Testing experience with battery systems.
    • Experience working with electrical systems including HVDC sources and supporting equipment.
    • Hands-on experience and familiarity with workshop tools such as a drill press, soldering, common hand tools.
    • High level of proficiency with LabVIEW as well as proficiency in MATLAB, Python, C++ desired.
    • Experience with Solidworks Electrical or similar for designing schematics and wiring diagrams desired.
    • Experience with FAA certification of aircraft systems desired.
    • Ability to lift/carry/push up to 30 lbs.
    • Ability to travel and support shift work.

    Location

    • Applicants must be willing and able to commute to magniX's location in Everett, Washington.

    This position's approximate base salary range is $115, $130,000.00 per year, depending on applicable experience and level of education.
