    SUMMARY

    The Assistant Plant Manager reports to the Plant Manager.

    The primary purpose of the position is to direct the activities of the plant's production department through the production manager and the shift supervisors.

    This position has the potential for career growth up and through the Plant Manager position.

    This position participates in the overall management of the plant and plays a key role in the continuous improvement of all processes and performance metrics.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    Manages the safety and health factors in all processes.

    Maximizes yields (product to raw material ratios).

    Minimizes off-specification product.

    Maximizes throughput (pounds product per cycle time).

    Maximizes equipment use.

    Manages scheduling and timing of production.

    Provides leadership and training.

    Organizes personnel.

    Plans for current and future production requirements.

    Implements plans and checks on progress.


    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    This position supervises plant employees.


    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    College education:
    Bachelor's degree in a business, science, or engineering field.

    Ten years or more of food manufacturing operational leadership experience.

    Dairy experience desired but not mandatory.

    Butter manufacturing experience desired but not mandatory.

    NFDM powder manufacturing experience desired but not mandatory.

    Condensed milk manufacturing experience desired but not mandatory.


    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    Able to be flexible at times with hours worked.

    Ability to work independently and function as a team player.

    Ability to help lead operations in achieving key objectives and goals.

    Must be able to work with minimal supervision independently or with a group.

    Demonstrate reliability through good attendance and work ethic.

    Follow company policies and safety regulations.

    SQF experience.

    Lean six sigma experience.

    Ability to identify, implement, and sustain Key Process Indicators (KPI's).


    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    PCQI certification preferred but not required.
