    Proposal Engineer (Arlington Heights, Illinois)

    Reports to the Proposal and Product Engineering Manager

    Job Summary:
    The Proposal Engineer positions the company as an industry leader by providing technical project plans for implementation of manufacturing solutions that satisfy customer application needs.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Prepare competitive technical quotes/proposals and related information based on customized needs of each application.
    • Develop and present contents of technical quotes/proposals for the proposed solution to potential customers.
    • Develop and provide automated solution recommendations for turnkey manufacturing systems.
    • Establish working relationships with key automation suppliers to get timely pricing and engineering solutions.
    • Establish project costs and potential profit margins for automated solutions to incorporate into turnkey systems.
    • Collaborate with internal staff on turnkey projects from initial RFQ to completion.
    • Communicate with internal sales force and customers regarding project progress.
    • Support training and/or coaching of internal and external customers in relation to advanced manufacturing concepts.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or other applicable discipline, or equivalent experience/knowledge.
    • 5+ year(s) of experience with daily use of engineering software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.).
    • 5+ year(s) of experience with close-tolerance machining and related metrology, in addition to CNC and PLC programming.
    • 3+ year(s) experience with support and/or development of documentation for sales/proposal engineering.
    • 3+ year(s) experience with RFQ and proposal engineering for CNC machine tool systems.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • 3+ year(s) of experience with training, mentoring or coaching others in relation to advanced manufacturing concepts.
    • Prior application of the appropriate education and/or experience to the Toyoda (or similar) product line is highly desired.
