    Monday-Friday : 7am-4pm

    Job Summary:

    Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in executing routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment.

    Examples of work performed: performs routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment; maintains shop records and maintenance reports; develops and maintains a preventative maintenance schedule on department vehicles and equipment; answers calls for service or equipment at job sites; maintains garage; orders parts and equipment; maintains inventory of garage equipment and supplies; conducts monthly vehicle inspections; performs related work as required.


    Required Knowledge and Abilities:

    Knowledge of motor vehicle repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment

    Knowledge of standard practices and equipment used in the routine repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment

    Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions

    Ability to perform a variety of repair and maintenance tasks

    Ability to operate a variety of light and heavy equipment

    Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing

    Ability to work a flexible schedule due to call outs and system emergencies

    Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the public and co-workers


    Qualifications:

    High school education or equivalent, experience in vehicle equipment repair and maintenance, and a valid TN drivers license is required - Commercial Driver's License is preferred.


    Essential Functions:

    Must be able to frequently lift 50 pounds. May lift up to 100 pounds occasionally. Must be able to bend, stoop and work under vehicles typical of auto mechanic work. Must be able to operate all department vehicles and equipment. Must be able to respond to service calls for equipment needing repair at job sites. Must be able to work flexible schedule during calls out or system emergencies. Attendance is an essential function of this position.
