- Documentation: Accurately and efficiently document patient encounters, including medical histories, physical exams, procedures, and treatment plans, into the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Assistance during Patient Examinations: Accompany the physician during patient visits and transcribe details of the encounter, including lab results, radiology reports, and other pertinent information.
- Administrative Support: Manage administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering phones, and organizing medical records.
- Communication: Facilitate communication between the physician and other healthcare team members, patients, and caregivers.
- Medical Terminology: Demonstrate proficiency in medical terminology to accurately interpret and document information.
- HIPAA Compliance: Ensure compliance with patient confidentiality guidelines and HIPAA regulations at all times.
- Chart Review: Perform thorough chart reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient care.
- Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field or currently pursuing a degree in a healthcare profession (e.g., pre-med, nursing).
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting (e.g., medical assistant, healthcare assistant) is preferred but not required.
- Work primarily takes place in a clinical setting, such as a hospital, clinic, or physician's office.
- May involve standing or sitting for extended periods.
- Potential exposure to infectious diseases, requiring adherence to safety protocols.
