  • Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: In partnership with operations develops a core orientation program for new back office employees as part of the initial on boarding process to ensure the satisfaction of core competencies. Responsible for developing an orientation program (SBC University) for new graduates and less experienced Medical Assistants and LPNs by assessing current skill set and addressing identified deficiencies prior to release into department. Partners with Human Resources in maintaining clinical staff educational program relationships with schools offering clinicals and externships for Advanced Practitioners, Medical Assistants, and directed. Responsible for coordinating skills validation, OSHA and HIPAA training, computer training and department placement of Medical Assistants and other positions as directed. Provides educational resources for Practice Manager's to implement with their clinical staff which elevates their staff's critical thinking skills allowing them to perform to the highest level of license and certification in the care team process. Monitors the completion of employees' annual competency testing for Medical Assistants and other selected positions as directed through: Development and/or review of defined position-specific clinical skills assessments. Development and implementation of annual training/inservice programming to accomplish review of competencies. May provide Practice Managers coaching and additional clinical skills training as part of an employee's performance improvement plan. Participates in quality improvement initiatives where clinical staff training is involved. Responsible for auditing and monitoring the items listed below and communicates results to the department manager for resolution: Office-based sterilization and cleaning processes, including autoclave procedures. Staff's proper cleaning and sterilizing of multiple use equipment. Overall processes for infection control Clinic wide. Responsible for the overall administration of the clinical OSHA components relative to blood borne pathogens and universal precautions such as: Incident follow-up and investigation Personal protective equipment program for all clinical staff including safety needles, splash protection, gowns, Etc. Develops and implements annual employee OSHA training program ensuring compliance with federal and state requirements. Secures and tracks completion of Hepatitis B Forms Assists with maintaining the tracking of needle sticks utilizing the form required by OSHA. Exhibits computer systems knowledge and proficiency as necessary to perform job functions. Demonstrates the attitudes and behaviors of The South Bend Clinic Service Standards. Performs other duties as assigned when appropriate. Adheres to HIPAA guidelines set forth in Clinic policies and procedures.
