Job Summary:
The Cardiac Quality Improvement Coordinator Lead position chief responsibility is to act as a resource to the Cardiovascular Service Line.
The QI Coordinator Lead conducts the collection, surveillance, data entry, analysis, and reporting of quality improvement information from medical records and other sources.
These activities are confidential and based on predetermined clinical indicators and study methodology to support the clinical staff quality improvement initiatives and processes.
The QI Coordinator Lead works closely with members of the Cardiovascular Service Line to identify opportunities for clinical quality improvement and other special projects as may be identified.
The QI Coordinator lead has the additional responsibility of closely collaborating with registry staff to ensure quality data abstraction and serve as a consistent resource.
The Lead is primarily responsible for onboarding and training new members to the Cardiac QI department.
This individual is responsible to take a leadership role in the development coordination, implementation and evaluation of cardiac educational programs/projects for staff, patients and community both professional and public across the continuum of cardiac care.
Further, they will provide education that is consistent with the cardiac standard of care, the Erlanger Code of Conduct, the cardiac performance improvement plan and professional organizational standards.
Will have oversight to ensure that all continuing education is clearly identified, maintained and consistent with the ACC Chest Pain accreditation requirements in collaboration with the STEMI program manager.

Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.

Three to five years of clinical nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting with at least five years of clinical nursing experience required.
Computer and Internet skills and experience required. Familiarity and comfort with MS Office products is essential for success in this position (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Cardiac data entry.
Cardiac reporting functions.
Cardiac knowledge.
Preferred:
Management experience
Statistical knowledge preferred.
Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration
Required:
Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee
BLS completed prior to going to the unit/department and to be maintained going forward.

CMC or CSC certification
Department Position Summary:
Principal duties and responsibilities of the Cardiac Quality Improvement Coordinator include:
Responsible for the identification of cardiac patients for inclusion in the ACC and STS databases.
Perform concurrent and retrospective medical chart reviews as required.
Assist with the development of Performance Management plans in collaboration with the staff, administrative leadership and Medical Directors of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery.
In collaboration with the Service Line Administrator, track and trend quality indicators established by the Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery departments, ACC, STS, and other pertinent professional organizations or initiatives.
Responsible for oversight of all data abstraction for the ACC, STS and all other relevant institutional data instruments.
Provide data to administration and physicians in a timely fashion.
Maintain confidentiality of medical record and physician specific information.
Establishes effective working relationships with members of the hospital community, especially staff in the Cardiology, Surgery, Medicine, Nursing, Medical Records, and the Information Systems Department whose support is necessary for the management and success of the program.
When necessary, contact patients and/or families via telephone and/or written communications postoperatively for the purpose of identifying possible occurrences associated with surgical procedures performed at the hospital.
