    About the role:
    As a Software Engineer you could work with bleeding edge technology as you build innovative fintech products that change the way the world pays, banks and invests. This will involve developing core versions of software applications, identifying client requirements and technical specifications, interacting with engineering groups and training clients on applications.

    WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

    • Analyzes, designs, programs, debugs and modifies software enhancements and/or new products used in local, networked or Internet-related computer programs. (Code must be used in core version of applications available for sale commercially.)
    • Interacts with product managers and/or users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications.
    • Participates in software design meetings and analyzes user needs to determine technical requirements.
    • Write technical specifications based on conceptual design and stated business requirements.
    • Writes code, completes programming and performs testing and debugging of applications using current programming languages and technologies.
    • Completes documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.
    • Trains and communicates with internal Client Training, Client Relationship and Sales teams on systems application.
    • May be responsible for developing or executing project plans, budgets and schedules and for documenting work and results.
    • May deliver informational and decision-seeking presentations to technical and business groups to internal and/or external audiences.
    • Analyze, identify and correct software defects arising from production issues.
    • Adhere to FIS development methodologies and standards.
    • Demonstrate proficiency in the FIS development tool set Lotus Notes Workflow, PVCS or equivalents.
    • Administer code reviews for other Programmers on the team.
    • Participating and conduct appropriate testing, both at a functional level and a regression testing level, as required.
    • Operate within the terms of the Service Level/Maintenance Agreement that exists between FIS and its Clients.
    • Mentor and train other Programmer analysts as required.
    • Apply COBOL programming changes per standards.
    • Demonstrate ability to analyze and resolve problems quickly, working across all levels of FIS as needed.
    • Analyze, identify and correct software defects arising from production issues. This may sometimes require consultation with your members and/or senior members of the team.
    • Work with your manager to clearly identify, separate, and communicate production issues which are enhancements, and which are defects/bugs.
    • Effectively communicate with client, Have the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical resources.
    • Handle multiple issues and the dynamics of reprioritization due to new production critical issues.
    • Participating and conduct appropriate testing, both at a functional level and a regression testing level, as required
    • Other related duties assigned as needed.

    WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

    • 7+ year experience with Relational Database Management Systems (preferably Oracle). This includes working experience on SQL, embedded SQL.
    • 7+ years working experience with COBOL (preferably Microfocus)
    • Knowledge of PL/SQL and JAVA will be a plus.
    • Working experience on large scale financial systems preferably in the insurance arena.
    • A Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science or other related discipline or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
    • Knowledge of FIS products and services; in-depth knowledge of products and services in assigned line(s) of business
    • Knowledge of financial services industry
    • Knowledge of end-to-end systems development life cycles, , waterfall, iterative and other modern approaches to software development
    • Knowledge of standards relevant to the software industry , , ISO, CMM, Six Sigma
    • Knowledge of banking practices, regulations and operations within assigned line(s) of business
    • In-depth understanding of design patterns and their application
    • Fluency in developing and understanding sequence diagrams, class models, etc.
    • Proficiency in solutions design and requirements definition disciplines leveraging model driven design based tools and techniques including conceptual solution component models, business process models, use cases, etc.
    • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organization, , executive, management, individual contributors
    • Excellent analytical, decision-making, problem-solving, team and time management skills
    • Ability to persuade and influence others on the best approach to take
    • Ability to estimate work effort for project sub-plans or small projects and ensure the project is successfully completed
    • Positive outlook, strong work ethic, and responsive to internal and external clients and contacts
    • Willingly and successfully fulfills the role of teacher, mentor and coach
    • May require in-depth knowledge of networking, computing platform, storage, database, security, middleware, network and systems management and related infrastructure technologies and practices

    FIS is committed to providing its employees with an exciting career opportunity and competitive compensation. The pay range for this full-time position is $133, - $224, and reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position based on the posted role, level, and location. Within the range, actual individual starting pay is determined additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Any changes in work location will also impact actual individual starting pay. Please consult with your recruiter about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
