**Position Overview**
Protective Insurance is seeking an experienced Extended Claims Unit (ECU) Adjuster to join its Commercial Auto Department in Carmel, Indiana. This individual is responsible for effectively reviewing extended commercial auto liability claims to determine appropriate action for resolution.
**Primary Duties**
Manage desk- and caseload of at least 125 claims in an efficient and professional manner while handling new incoming claims
Investigate claims thoroughly, including coverage, liability and exposure
Evaluate exposures and maintain accurate and timely reserves on all files
Evaluate claims for resolution
Negotiate with claimants and attorneys to resolve claims
Represent the company at mediations, arbitrations and trials, as required
Keep claims files documented and updated at all times
Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all payments
Perform any other duties as requested
Understand and analyze complex coverage issues
**Skills/Requirements**
Bachelors degree preferred
3-5 years of experience in a similar position required
Multi-state commercial liability claims experience preferred
Possess and demonstrate a high level of technical knowledge and skills
Obtain and maintain all necessary adjuster licenses
Outstanding negotiating skills
Superior oral and written communication skills
