    This position performs designated duties relating to incarcerated individual diagnosis and treatment in order to assist practitioners and nurses, in a clinic setting, in the provision of general health care; and to perform related duties as assigned.

    This position will collaborate with a regional team of Telehealth Navigators to provide onsite technical assistance, coaching and guidance to site-based virtual health care appointments.


    Responsibilities include:

    • Manage the daily operation of Northern Region telehealth clinics.
    • Support the Telehealth Coordinator in the scheduling, workflow, processes and protocols used to establish and maintain the use of telehealth opportunities as indicated.
    • Assist in maintaining the medical records system and provide technical and administrative assistance as directed.
    • Provide direct incarcerated individual care, as delegated by an RN and/or practitioner, ensuring that incarcerated individuals are receiving appropriate and quality care in the most efficient manner. Provide face to face education to incarcerated individuals regarding their health care needs and to promote self care, in a safe and secure environment.

    This position will support telehealth clinics in the Northern Region (Minnesota Correctional Facility (MCF)-Rush City, St. Cloud, and Moose Lake). The primary work location is MCF-Rush City, but will be required to travel to MCF-St. Cloud and Moose Lake for virtual health care appointments.

    Minimum Qualifications
    To be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below.

    Ensure that your resume contains descriptions of your work experiences sufficient for comparison against the requirements stated below and indicate the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.


    • Completion of an approved training program in medical assisting plus certification or registration as a medical assistant by passing a national examination.
    • Clinical experience in a hospital, long-term care and/or clinic setting within the last five years.
    • Computer experience sufficient to prepare videoconferencing equipment, complete electronic charting, and use basic computer functions such as email.

    Preferred Qualifications
    The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for the position:

    • Experience working in a correctional or secured setting.
    • Experience in specialized clinical area(s), such as in gender-specific, geriatric, juvenile health care, medical/surgery unit, and/or behavioral health.

    Physical Requirements
    The completion of pre-placement physical components may be required for this position. These components consist of a tuberculosis screening and/or respirator clearance.     Additional Requirements

    The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections' policy.

    Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.

    Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections' policy.

    This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.
