    Description

    Data Platform Support Engineer / Kafka Engineer:

    As a Data Platform Support Engineer / Kafka Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and supporting our data platform that utilizes Kafka for real-time data streaming. Your responsibilities will include monitoring application environments, troubleshooting issues, conducting general maintenance tasks, and ensuring the smooth operation of the platform.

    • Contract position through the end of the year; contract extension and C2H options are available.
    • The job requires on-site presence with a hybrid work schedule. Remote work is not allowed. Candidates should be local or open to relocating near Pittsburgh PA, Cleveland OH, Jacksonville FL, Kansas City KS, Philadelphia PA, Phoenix AZ, or Birmingham AL.

    Responsibilities:

    • Monitor application environments to identify and resolve performance issues, errors, and anomalies.
    • Manage certificates for secure data platform communication.
    • Configure and oversee firewall rules for access control and security.

    Required Technical Skills and Experience:

    • Proficiency in Kafka, including configuration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
    • Previous experience in developing or supporting distributed event stores and stream-processing platforms.
    • Python programming skills for scripting and automation purposes.
    • Knowledge of Oracle, SQL (PL/SQL), ITSM processes, and change management practices.
    • Experience with Pyspark for distributed data processing and analysis, as well as log management and analysis tools like Humio Logscale/CrowdStrike Falcon LogScale or similar tools.
