    Job Description


    The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport in and out of the facility as medically prescribed.

    This role involves evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans, explaining procedures and treatments, and providing necessary education before patient discharge.

    Responsibilities

    Conduct physician-prescribed treatments and operate various ventilatory equipment.
    Administer medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation to patients using oxygen, aerosol devices, and nebulizers.
    Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning through various methods (oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal).
    Monitor patients using oximetry and capnography according to policy.
    Review patients' chest x-rays to determine the need for further evaluation.
    Perform 12-Lead EKG and basic arrhythmia recognition.
    Assist with respiratory care procedures like bronchoscopy and chest tube placement.
    Manage tracheostomy care, including insertion and removal of tubes.
    Conduct arterial punctures and assess ventilation efficiency.
    Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) following BLS and ACLS guidelines.
    Set up and maintain various types of mechanical ventilation and perform equipment maintenance.
    Document treatment details and patient responses accurately.
    Communicate effectively with attending physicians regarding patient therapy efficiency.
    Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

    Completion of a Respiratory Therapy program and possession of a valid state license is required. Certification in BLS and ACLS is essential.
