    PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITIONThe VP of Communications & Marketing will be responsible for the development of the vision and implementation of a multi-faceted communications and marketing program to maintain and enhance the positive reputation of three of Exelon's energy delivery companies in the Mid-Atlantic region—Pepco, Delmarva Power and Atlantic City Electric.

    As part of Exelon's Corporate Affairs leadership team, this position leads the effective engagement of all key internal and external stakeholders in service areas encompassing Washington, DC, and parts of Maryland, Delaware and New Jersey to support business outcomes and the achievement of the company's strategy.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIESOverall responsibility for design and execution of a comprehensive internal and external communication and marketing strategy using multiple formats and media to maintain and increase awareness of operating company's key community goals and achievements, differentiate the organization competitively as an environmental and business leader, and cultivate and sustain critical relationships.

    (30%)Oversee the development and execution of the annual marketing plan and subsequent omni-channel marketing communications plans that support the company's brand and business strategy.

    (25%)Maintain open and ongoing communication to exchange relevant information with senior management, other business units and other corporate departments to effectively manage and modify communication and marketing programs; serve as designated point person in all aspects of communications to ensure message continuity, clarity and accuracy. (15%)Integrate departmental strategies and efforts with other external-facing and operational departments to ensure a united focus on business objectives and collaboration on key messages.

    (10%)Maintain awareness of economic, social and political trends that may affect operating company; make recommendations to aid in the recalibration of strategies and plans accordingly.

    (10%)Serve as counselor to senior management on communications, marketing, digital, social, and corporate reputation issues. (5%)Cultivate and maintain positive, productive relationships with high level stakeholders, including national and local news media, industry groups and trade associations, vendors, and community leaders.

    (5%)QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's or graduate degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or related field.

    The ideal candidate will have at least 15 years of progressively responsible experience and technical know-how in strategic communications in support of marketing and business goals.

    Proven, successful experience in leading a broad base of internal and external communications functions including key message management, employee communications, speech and presentation support, copywriting and editing, script-writing, and multiple forms of electronic communications including interactive and social networking.

    Excellent copywriting skills in conjunction with the overall communications plan; effective writing and editing skills for all materials produced by Marketing & Communications as well as other key customers within the organizationStrong strategic, creative, and progressive thinking, ability to handle ambiguity, strong attention to detail and well-organized with dependable follow-up and follow-through.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSDirect supervision of a team of professional and administrativeemployees.

    Interfaces with utility senior leadership, other areas of the company including corporate communications and legislative groups; may be utility spokesperson.
