Program

Pupil Personnel Services is a collaborative community of school based psychologists.

Description

To define and describe a role within the school psychology program dedicated to the assessment and diagnosis of students whose primary language is not English.

The bilingual specialist in school psychology responds to referrals from client school disricts and LIU program sugervisors.

The intention is to meet the ethical and legal mandates for a fair and non-biased assessment of students in their dominant language.

This is especially important so that students struggling with second language acquisition are not mistakenly identified as having an educational handicap and excluded from educational settings with other non-handicapped students.

The bilingual psychologist may consult with classroom teachers, regular education and special education administrators, other disciplines in education, and to parents and care-givers.

Qualifications

Valid Pennsylvania Certification - School Psychologist PK - 12
Master's degree
Fluency in oral and written English and Spanish

Terms of Employment

Part-time, 2 days/week

Salary

LIUEA pay scale (minimum $306.95/day)
