    Mechanical Design Engineer The Mechanical Design Engineer will design, develop, and test new products from the concept phase through detail design and release into production or as defined in the project scope of work, and will be part of a cross functional engineering team that will apply engineering knowledge and principles to devise innovative solutions to unique and sometimes complex design problems.

    This Engineer will have a background in developing products for mid to high production volumes, and experience with electronic enclosures used in applications such as medical or automotive.

    This position is with the Huntsville Alabama office of the Sanmina Design Engineering Services group.

    This is an international group that designs and analyzes electro-mechanical systems to meet customer requirements with the goal of bringing work into Sanmina's manufacturing plants.

    The Huntsville office provides leadership and directs support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing, and prototype fabrication.

    The Mechanical Design Engineer will insure completeness and schedule compliance of projects while working with local and global development teams.

    Nature of Duties/Responsibilities

    • Development of new products and product enhancements in a cross-functional team design environment with project management, industrial design, system, electrical, and software engineers.
    • Providing input and guidance to team members to ensure mechanical design integrity utilizing skills in project leadership and computer aided tools.
    • Review designs for proper material process alignment (DFx)
    • Design verification and test reports
    • Tolerance stack studies and compliance with drafting standards
    • Design documentation utilizing Agile, CAD solid modeling PDM systems
    • Technical communication with internal and external customers
    • May serve as Project Lead Mechanical engineer responsible for project deliverables. Education and Experience
    • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
    • 5+ years experience in product design
    • Experience in the design of electro-mechanical systems using SolidWorks, PTC Creo, or similar 3D solid modeling CAD software
    • Experience in 2D drawing generation from solid models, as well as experience in using and interpreting GD&T
    • Proficiency in the design of parts using injection molding, metal stamping, machining and 3D printing is commensurate with years of experience.
    • Experience in review or use of engineering simulation tools including Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for both structural, vibration, and shock analysis, plastics flow modeling for injection molding, and thermal computational flow dynamics or other similar experience is desired.
    • Direct medical device design and automotive design experience is a plus.
    • Experience with manufacturing is required with knowledge of production assembly lines having fully manual to work cell and highly automated lines.
