    Benefits Plan Specialist - Chicago, United States - Fedsig

    Description

    Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
    Assists with new-hire orientations and open enrollment processes.
    Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
    Performs quality checks of benefits-related data.
    Reviews employee life event benefit enrollment and change requests and determines eligibility; follows up with next steps.

    Assists employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes; responds to benefits inquiries from business unit HR teams and individual employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries.

    Maintains and reports on inquiry/issue tracking data.

    Assists employees with questions related to FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities; interacts effectively with third-party administrator.

    Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts.
    Responds to pension inquiries and provides updated pension calculations upon request (plan frozen.)
    Assists with data requests related to annual ERISA compliance and year-end SOX audits.
    Provides necessary reports for allocation/billing charges.
    Performs other duties, assignments and special projects as assigned.
    Position Requirements
    Bachelor's degree required; concentration in Human Resources or related field desirable.
    At least two years' experience in HR and/or benefits administration required.

    Attained or actively working toward CEBS (Certified Employee Benefit Specialist), SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) orSHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP)certification credential highly desirable.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    Experience-based knowledge of employee benefits, benefit plans and applicable laws.
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills; collaboratively interacts with wide variety of individuals.
    Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
