    The Capital City Anesthesia Group (TCCAG) is looking for a staff CRNA to join its team at the Baton Rouge General Medical Center campus.

    TCCAG provides anesthesia care for its patients in a team-oriented approach with CRNAs practicing at their full scope of practice.

    Patient safety, patient experience, and efficiency are the foundation that TCCAG bases its model of anesthesia care on.

    Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist Job Responsibilities/Performance Criteria:

    • Provides pre-anesthetic preparation and patient evaluation.
    • Ensures patient identification and obtains appropriate health history.
    • Recommends, requests, and evaluates pertinent diagnostic studies.
    • Documents pre-anesthetic evaluation.
    • Obtains informed consent for anesthesia.
    • Selects and/or administers pre-anesthetic medications.
    • Selects prepares and administers anesthetic agents or other agents administered in management of anesthetic care.
    • Informs anesthesiologist and/or surgeon of changes in patient's condition.
    • Provides anesthesia induction, maintenance, emergence, and post anesthesia care.
    • Inserts invasive line catheter/devices.
    • Performs tracheal intubation and extubation, airway management.
    • Provides mechanical ventilation.
    • Performs venous and arterial punctures.
    • Obtains blood samples. Performs and manages regional anesthetic.
    • Manages patient's fluid, blood, electrolyte and acid base balance.
    • Provides peri anesthetic invasive and non-invasive monitoring utilizing current standards and techniques.
    • Responds to abnormal findings with corrective action.
    • Recognizes and treats cardiac dysrhythmias through use of peri anesthetic electrocardiogram monitoring.
    • Evaluates patient response during emergence from anesthesia. Institutes pharmacological or supportive treatment to insure adequacy of patient recovery from anesthesia and adjuvant drugs.
    • Provides post anesthesia follow-up, report, and evaluation of patient's response to anesthesia and for potential anesthetic complication.
    • Identifies and manages emergency situations. Initiates or participates in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
    • Performs or orders equipment safety checks as needed.
    • Cleans and sterilizes equipment and notifies supervisor of needed equipment adjustments/repairs.
    • May perform patient care to the extent necessary to maintain clinical expertise, competency and licensing necessary to fulfill job responsibilities and to direct the provision of care on the unit.
    Requirements

    Specific Educational Requirements

    • Diploma, Master's Degree or Doctoral Degree in Nurse Anesthesia or Equivalent Content Area
    Special Skill, License and Knowledge Requirements

    • Unencumbered, Louisiana license as a registered nurse
    • Unencumbered, Louisiana license as an advanced practice registered nurse
    • Current certification or recertification as a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA)
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS)
    Summary


    Employment Options:

    PRN Option:
    As needed 8-hour, 12-hour and/or 24-hour shift availability. Includes weekday, weekend and overnight options.

    Full-Time Option (1): Scheduled 40 hours/week with 8-hour, 12-hour and/or 24-hour shift availability. Call obligations minimal with opportunity for overtime and extra shifts if desired.


    Full-Time Option (2): Scheduled 36 hours/week with rotating schedule of three (3) consecutive 12-hour shifts (M, T, W and W/Th/F) with one overnight beeper call per week (7p-7a).

    Every fourth weekend beeper call obligation every 4th. Opportunities for overtime and extra shifts if desired.
