DescriptionGENERAL SUMMARY:
Proficient in ability to install, overhaul, and repair US Naval submarine and ship machinery, mechanical systems, and components such as pumps, valves, launchers, and actuators as well as assisting project teams with the installation of structural and piping components.
LOCATION:
Norfolk, VA.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs installation, repair, and overhaul of machinery, mechanical systems, and components.
Performs system or component level inspections as directed by the Project Manager.
Assists welders and pipefitters with fit up and installation of structural and piping components.
Performs installation, repair, and overhaul in accordance with Technical Work Documents (e.g. QAWBs, Maintenance Standards, & Technical Manuals) and associated drawings.
Responsible for documenting inspections and work performed in both the Technical Work Document and on associated Objective Quality Evidence Forms as applicable.
Performs installation, repair, and maintenance utilizing hand tools, power tools, and Precision Measuring Instruments.Expected to work well both independently and in a team setting.
Follows all applicable federal, state, local, and company safety regulations during performance of work.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical / equipment installation, repair, and overhaul on US Naval vessels; or completion of a formal related course of study through either a community college, technical or trade school, military training, formal company training program, or an apprenticeship program.
Experience and working knowledge of utilizing hand tools, power tools, and Precision Measuring Instruments.
Experience working in shipyards and ship repair environments.
Possess ability to read, understand, and interpret Technical Work Documents and drawings.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required on a regular basis to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and/or hear.
Frequently the employee is required to carry objects that might weigh up to 50 pounds.High School Diploma or GED equivalency is required.
Prospective employees must be a US Citizen and capable of passing both a Criminal Background Check and a Drug Screen.
