- Provides pilot/operator expertise regarding crew interface or operational issues, support Block Upgrade (BU)/Capability Management Upgrade (CMU) programs from requirements generation through common core completion
- Is the pilot/operator focal point for Working Groups and the Cockpit Evaluation Team responsible for verification and validation of Human Systems Interface (HSI) program requirements; collaborate, plan, participate in, and observe laboratory tests, flight tests (as observer if not a test pilot), and rapid prototyping activities
- Collaborates in the formulation of test and rapid prototyping procedures for performance, reliability, and suitability of aircraft systems and design
- Collaborates in the requirement refinement process during both requirements generation and the developmental process
- Evaluates early demos/engineering builds and provides real time feedback based on rapid prototyping processes (this does not extend to decisions on design authority)
- Identifies design and operational deficiencies (within the scope of the design) and recommends improvements; prepares technical reports and recommendations for design improvements
- Works with IPO to manage requirements across stakeholders, develops plans and common core policies, monitors operations, and provides technical analysis. Works with the IPO, communicates with user community on crew system issues that arise during requirements generation, development and/or testing, and assists in gaining consensus positions from all partner nations
- Reviews, analyzes, and provides feedback on contractor reports/activities and develops planning documents such as the International Systems Requirement Document (ISRD), Statement of Objectives (SOO), Contract Data Requirement List (CDRL) and Contract Line Item Number (CLIN) structure
- Prepares draft Requests for Proposal (RFP) for selected capabilities
- Plans and schedules International Certification Working Groups which establish the airworthiness certification requirements for all changes and modifications made to the Block Upgrades
- Assesses tradeoffs between design characteristics and operational/support capabilities for the total program life cycle to achieve operationally acceptable utilization rates at the lowest practical cost of ownership
- Coordinates and collates technical evaluation of airworthiness (AW) factors/artifacts and advises how changes to pilot/vehicle interfaces will affect AW assessments
- Master's of Science degree in aeronautical, engineering, technical, or related field of study
- Commercial pilot license with multi-engine rating
- Flight test rating and experience with operational flight testing
- Minimum 20 years of aviation experience; knowledge is mandatory of theory of flight, air navigation, aircraft performance and handling fundamentals, flying directives, aircraft operating procedures, and mission tactics
- Experience flying and operating C-130 aircraft in a military environment
- Possess the ability to communicate clearly and effectively (in English) in both verbal and written forms, and have basic computer skills in Microsoft Office and Outlook
- Ability to travel out of local area 10% of calendar year in support of contractor meetings, working groups, or steering committee meetings related to activities managed by the IPO
- Ability to obtain a SECRET Security Clearance or Tier 5 background investigation (and an approved Limited Access Authorization (LAA) for Green Card holders) is required
- Familiarity and experience with aircraft production processes
- Familiarity with aircraft design analysis and engineering change processes

Technical Advisor – C-130J Aircraft Pilot
KBR is seeking a C-130J Pilot Technical Advisor/Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the C-130J International Program Office (IPO) as a key member of the International Cockpit Evaluation and Prototyping Team (ICEPT) and will interact with the aircraft original equipment manufacturer (OEM) on a regular basis. This position does not serve as a country liaison or representative. This position will report to the C-130J IPO located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.
