    Douglas Emmett primarily invests in Class A, institutional grade, high-rise and mid-rise office buildings and apartment communities, in areas such as Beverly Hills, Century City, Santa Monica, West LA, Woodland Hills, Sherman Oaks, and Honolulu.

    Accounting Manager

    The ideal candidate should have bachelor's degree in Accounting, with at least 4-6 years of accounting experience including review and/or preparation of financial statements. The candidate should be proficient in accounting software and Excel, and possess strong analytical skills. The candidate should be a self-starter and work well in a team environment. Prior real estate experience is preferred, but not a requirement. The candidate will be responsible for the accounting of a portfolio of properties and therefore needs good communication skills to work closely with and support operations management. The candidate will manage the monthly preparation of income statements, balance sheets and review materials for their assigned portfolio of properties.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    1. Review and post recurring tenant billings

    2. Review and post monthly close journal entries

    3. Review tenant straight-line calculations and lease modifications

    4. Review month end income statement for portfolios, including straight-line rent, expense accruals, prepaid expense amortization, fixed assets depreciation, and income statement variance explanations comparing to budget and prior periods

    5. Prepare audit request support for internal and external auditors

    6. Review and reconcile month end balance sheets for portfolios, including prepaid expenses, expense accruals, fixed assets, tenant receivables, prepaid income, security deposits, and straight-line receivables

    7. Train and mentor their team

    8. Various ad-hoc projects

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    · Manage an assigned team of one staff and one senior accountant

    TECHNICAL PREREQUISITES

    · Bachelor's Degree in Accounting

    · CPA (preferred, but not required)

    · At least 4-6 years of experience in the field.

    · MRI accounting software (preferred, but not required)

    · Proficient in Microsoft Excel

    · Prior experience in supervisor role

    · Ability to develop creative solutions to issues

    · Flexibility to respond to changing priorities

    · Customer service mindset

    · Multi-tasking capability
